Composite Decking Installation in LaSalle and Peru, IL

4.9 ★★★★★ 233 Google reviews across Peru and Morris

A deck surface that does not get sanded, stained or sealed. Build it once and spend the summers on it instead of maintaining it.

Why people switch

The Deck Is Supposed to Be Where You Relax

A wood deck asks for a weekend every couple of years. Sand it, wash it, wait for it to dry, then stain it and hope it does not rain. Miss a cycle and the boards start going gray and rough.

Composite takes that off the calendar entirely. A hose in spring and the occasional sweep is the whole maintenance schedule, and the boards look the same in year eight as year one.

What you are choosing between

Six Decisions That Set What a Composite Deck Costs

Square footage is only part of it. These six change the number more than another fifty square feet will.

  • Capped or Uncapped BoardsCapped boards have a protective shell bonded to the surface, which is what resists fading and staining. Uncapped costs less and does not hold up the same way.
  • Board Color and GrainGrays, browns and multi tone boards with a wood grain texture pressed in. The color is part of the order, so it is decided up front.
  • Height Off GradeA ground level deck and a deck that needs stairs and a railing system are very different builds. Height drives cost more than area does.
  • Railing SystemComposite, aluminum or cable rail. Cable keeps the view, composite matches the boards, aluminum sits in between on price.
  • Hidden FastenersClips that hold the boards from the side so there are no screw heads on the surface. Standard on most of what we build.
  • Under Deck DrainageA system like RainEscape keeps the space under a raised deck dry, which turns it into usable space instead of storage.

What actually matters

The Frame Decides How Long the Deck Lasts

Composite boards will outlast the structure underneath them if that structure was built badly. The surface is what you see, but the joists, the ledger and the footings are what fail first.

  • Flashing behind the ledger board. Water getting in where the deck meets the house is the most common cause of deck failure there is.
  • Footings below the frost line. Shallow footings heave when the ground freezes, and a heaved deck pulls at the house.
  • Joist spacing rated for the board. Composite needs closer spacing than wood or it flexes underfoot. Spacing gets set by the board we are installing.

The plan

How a Composite Deck Build Actually Runs

Most builds are a week on site once the permit is in hand, depending on size and weather.

Walk the Yard and Price It

We look at the footprint, the height off grade, where the stairs land and where the afternoon sun hits. Board and railing samples come with us.

Design, Permit and Board Order

The plan gets drawn, the village permit gets pulled, and the boards go on order in your color once the layout is settled.

Footings, Frame and Ledger

Footings below the frost line, then the frame, then the ledger flashed properly where it meets the house. This is the part nobody sees and everything depends on.

Boards, Rail and Walkthrough

Decking goes down on hidden fasteners, railing and stairs go on, and the manufacturer warranty paperwork comes with us when we leave.

Build the Deck You Drew. Pay Over Time.

Composite costs more up front than wood and nothing after. 0% financing closes that gap so you are not choosing the cheaper surface to hit a number.

Common questions

Composite Decking Questions from LaSalle County Homeowners

How much does a composite deck cost in LaSalle or Peru?

Square footage, height off grade, stair count and railing system set the number. A ground level deck and a raised deck with stairs and cable rail are very different builds. We measure and put one number in writing.

Does composite get hot in the sun?

Darker boards do, the same as any dark surface. Lighter grays and browns stay noticeably cooler. If the deck gets full afternoon sun we will steer you toward a lighter board.

Will it fade or stain?

Capped boards resist both and carry a manufacturer warranty covering it. Uncapped boards do fade, which is the main reason we do not recommend them.

Can you build over my existing deck frame?

Sometimes. It depends on the joist spacing and the condition of the frame and ledger. We check before quoting and tell you honestly if the frame needs replacing.

How long does it take?

Most residential decks are framed and finished within a week on site, once the permit is in hand and the boards have arrived.

Is composite the same thing as Trex?

Trex is one brand of composite decking. All Trex is composite, but not all composite is Trex. We install several brands and will tell you which one your quote is based on.
