The most yard you can enclose for the money. Galvanized or black vinyl coated, set on posts that will not lean the first winter.

When chain link makes sense
Sometimes the Job Is Simple. Contain the Dog, Cover the Acre.
Not every fence needs to be a design decision. If the goal is keeping a dog in a large yard, fencing a ball diamond or securing a work yard, chain link covers more ground per dollar than anything else.
What it will not give you is privacy. People sometimes talk themselves into chain link to save money and then regret it the first time they sit on the patio. If privacy matters, we will say so.

Your options
Chain Link Options We Install Around Peru and Morris
Height, gauge and coating are the three choices, and they change the price more than the length does.
- GalvanizedThe standard silver finish. Lowest cost per foot and the most common choice for a back yard or a side lot.
- Black Vinyl CoatedA coated mesh that visually recedes instead of shining. Costs more and looks considerably better against a lawn.
- Four Foot ResidentialStandard back yard height. Enough for most dogs and low enough not to dominate a small lot.
- Six Foot PerimeterFor larger dogs, work yards and anywhere you want a real deterrent rather than a boundary marker.
- Privacy SlatsSlats woven through the mesh to close it up. Not the same as a privacy fence, but it takes the edge off a sightline.
- Walk and Drive GatesSingle walk gates through to double drive gates wide enough for a truck and trailer.
How we install it
Chain Link Leans When the Corner Posts Are Wrong
The mesh in a chain link fence is under constant tension, and all of that pull ends up on the corner and end posts. Undersize those or set them shallow and the whole run starts pulling inward.
- Corner and end posts are oversized and braced. They carry the tension for the entire run, so they are not the place to save money.
- Posts set below the frost line in concrete. Same standard as every other fence we build.
- Mesh stretched properly, not hand pulled. A loose chain link fence sags and bellies out within a season.

The plan
How a Chain Link Install Actually Runs
Chain link is the quickest fence we install, but the setting out is no different.
Measure and Choose the Finish
We walk the perimeter, settle on height, gauge and whether you want galvanized or black coated, then price it.
Permit and Utility Locates
We pull the village permit and get JULIE out to mark utilities. Large perimeters cross more underground lines than small yards.
Set Corners, Ends and Line Posts
Corner and end posts go in first and get braced, because they carry the tension of the whole run.
Stretch the Mesh and Hang Gates
The mesh gets tensioned properly along each run, gates get hung and adjusted, and we walk the perimeter with you.
Fence the Whole Perimeter. Pay Over Time.
Chain link is usually the choice when there is a lot of ground to cover. 0% financing means you can cover all of it in one go.

Common questions
Chain Link Questions from LaSalle County Property Owners
How much does chain link cost compared to vinyl?
Considerably less per foot, which is the main reason people choose it. The gap widens the more ground you are covering, since chain link scales cheaply and panel fences do not.
Is black chain link worth the extra?
Most people who pay for it say yes. Galvanized mesh catches the light and draws the eye. Black coated mesh visually disappears against grass and trees.
Will chain link hold my dog?
For most dogs, yes. Diggers need the bottom secured and climbers need more height, so tell us the breed and the behavior and we will spec it properly.
Can I get privacy with chain link?
Only partly. Slats woven through the mesh break up the sightline but they are not a privacy fence. If privacy is the real goal, a vinyl or wood fence is the honest answer.
Do you do commercial chain link?
Yes, and it is a large share of our chain link work. Work yards, storage areas and secured perimeters around Peru and Morris.
How long does it take?
Chain link goes up faster than any other fence type. Most residential runs are done in a day or two once the posts have cured.
